Choosing your invitations
When your guests receive your invite it tells them everything they need to know about your special day, the mood, tone, style. There are many resources out there to help you decide the overall theme and style for your stationery. You could be inspired by a colour, the venue, the flowers that you’ve chosen or even a favourite picture.
Personalised and bespoke stationery has become more fashionable and really adds a unique and special touch.
When should I send my invitations?
You should be sending out your invitations no later than eight weeks beforehand and if possible three months. If this is not possible, don’t forget the trusty ‘Save the Date’ you can send this out as soon as you have a confirmed date.
What information should I include?
It is always a good idea to include some additional information for example directions & maps, local taxi services and accommodation. One of my designs has been created especially with this in mind. You should be able to print out a map from a website such as www.multimap.co.uk , remembering to include a copy in each invitation. For an extra 25 pence per invitation I can do that for you!
A very subtle mention of your gift list should be included, again some of my designs already have this in mind.
You should not refer to morning dress on invitations. However, if your guests are to wear evening dress, you could might want to say 'black tie' Or 'themed dress', if your dress code is alternative/themed.
It is not essential to include an RSVP card with your invitation. However, an RSVP card is a really good way of getting responses quickly. If you want them even quicker you could include a stamp or SAE. Don’t forget to add a date you would like to receive the replies by.
I'm getting married abroad?
There are lots of options you can chose from, for example a small set of invitations for those joining you and a set of invitations for that party back home. Why not go for a beach theme! Drop me a line to see how I can help.
When should I order?
As soon as you have a good idea of how many quests you will be inviting.
How many invitations should I order?
Allow one invitation per family/household, not forgetting a courtesy one for the groom's parents. If you are writing your invitations, you should order a few for those inevitable mistakes. Also don’t forget that last minute guest!
